Branch Commitee

There are places for twelve trustees when we are at full strength. We would be delighted to welcome new faces. If you are already a member of the RSPCA and feel you would like to help with our work please let us know and you would be most welcome.  If you would like to join us but are not a member of the RSPCA, contact us, and we will send you a membership form.  We would be delighted to hear from you.
The RSPCA East Norfolk Branch takes in the area of Gt.Yarmouth and Gorleston to the south and stretches almost as far as Cromer in the north.

RSPCA EAST NORFOLK BRANCH

The opportunity

RSPCA East Norfolk Branch is one of the 170 plus Branches of the RSPCA in England and Wales. The Branch covers Gorleston and Great Yarmouth and up as far as Mundesley.
The Branch provides welfare assistance, rehoming of animals from private boarding kennels, a fostering network and 1 Charity Shop. We are an independently registered charity.

Role title: RSPCA East Norfolk Branch Committee Member/Trustee

Purpose of position: To control and manage the affairs of the branch and to promote and provide animal welfare within the branch.

Key activities: To work in conjunction with fellow Trustees, Branch Officers and employed Branch staff and jointly act in making decisions for the best interest of the branch and RSPCA.
• Ensure the branch meets all the minimum animal welfare standards.
• Actively participate in branch committee meetings and attend branch annual general meeting and regional conference.
• Attend trustee training course
• Actively promote and advertise the RSPCA and welcome and integrate new trustees and volunteers.
• In conjunction with fellow trustees, ensure the proper management and control of all activities and decisions relating to premises and staff employed by the branch.

Period of volunteering: Ongoing

Time commitment: This is flexible but can involve evenings and some weekends.

Time and Duration of Commitment: As a minimum, trustees would normally be expected to attend a monthly committee meeting lasting some 2 to 3 hours and to liaise on issues between meetings. However, the commitment may vary dependent on whether or not the trustee takes on additional duties such as fundraising etc. Trustees are elected for a 12 month term at each AGM. There is no limit to the number of times a trustee may seek re-election to the trustee board.

Experience/skills/knowledge required: Common sense.
The ability to communicate effectively. Good administration skills. Good business acumen.
To be a branch trustee you will need to be committed to the RSPCA's objectives. You will need to be able to work with people and have good interpersonal skills. You do not need to be an expert although commitment, common sense and the ability to be impartial is vital. However, some trustee positions may require specific skills such as finance, fundraising, project management, business experience, awareness of employment and/or charity legislation.

Training and support available: Committee members are provided with initial trustee training and there would be full support from the existing Trustees and staff.
